Excuses That Gotta Go, If You’re Serious About Succeeding

Quick Wins for Entrepreneurs on the Go
Welcome to the Busy But Building series, quick, straight-to-the-point tips for entrepreneurs who don’t have time to waste.
But first… let me give you a little bit of my life story.
Just kidding.
Let’s get straight into it.
Excuse #1: “I Don’t Have Time”
What if I told you that starting tomorrow, you had to do 2 hours of community service every single day for 2 years, or you’d go to prison?
You’d find a way, right?
But wait, I thought you didn’t have any free time?
Truth is, we make time for what we believe has to get done. If something threatens your freedom or survival, you’ll find the hours, no matter how packed your day is. So maybe it’s not that you don’t have time. Maybe your priorities aren’t lining up with your goals… yet.
Cut back on scrolling.
Trade one hour of sleep.
Ask someone to help with the kids.
Turn commute time into audiobook time.
Study during your lunch break.
Time is not found, it’s made. You don’t need more hours. You need better intention.
Excuse #2: “It’s Too Risky”
A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.
Risk is part of the deal. Every person who built something great took a leap, whether it was quitting a job, investing money, sacrificing sleep, or going all in when no one else understood.
And no, that doesn’t mean heading to the roulette machine and putting everything on red.
The kind that move you forward like:
- Signing up for that course
- Pitching your business idea
- Choosing to live below your means while you build
- Spending your last bit of free time learning something new
- Backing a business idea only you believe in (for now)
The biggest risk is staying where you are, knowing deep down you could’ve done more. If you’re worried about the cost of going for it, you should see the price of staying exactly where you are.
Excuse #3: “I’m Not Ready Yet”
Spoiler: You’ll never feel ready.
Waiting to feel “ready” is usually fear in disguise. You’re avoiding the discomfort of being a beginner, but that’s where everyone starts.
What if a baby said, “I’m not going to try walking until I know I won’t fall”?
You’d never walk.
Failure is part of the process. If I told you your big breakthrough would come after 49 failures, would you be more willing to go through them?
Exactly. Keep going.
Excuse #4: “I Don’t Have the Tools / Skills”
No one starts with everything.
Use what you have. Google what you don’t. Learn as you go. Borrow, barter, or build your way through the gaps.
Leverage your strengths. Outsource your weaknesses. Done is better than perfect.
Excuse #5: “I Don’t Have Support”
Support usually shows up after the success, not before.
Your vision is yours for a reason. Others won’t see it until there are results to prove it. That’s okay. Stop waiting for a cheer squad. Be your own hype team.
If you don’t believe in yourself, why should anyone else?
Excuse #6: “Life is Hard”
You’re right. It is.
But here’s the thing, you’re not the only one with problems. Some people are doing more with less. That’s not a guilt trip. It’s a reminder that you’re not alone in your struggles.
Let your pain fuel you, not freeze you.
If your story at 80 is, “I could have, I would have, I should have…” you’ll wish you started now.
Quick Win Wrap-Up:
Everyone has excuses. The difference is who lets them win.
Progress doesn’t need perfect conditions, just commitment.
You are busy. But you’re still building. And that’s what matters.
I’m rooting for you.
See you in the next one. Thanks for reading, subscribe below for alerts on new posts!
